Breast Augmentation for Small Breast Size
For women with small breasts, breast augmentation surgery is a safe and effective way to improve breast shape and volume. Often, women with small breasts are pleased with their natural breast shape, but wish for more breast volume. With a carefully selected breast implant, the natural breast shape can be preserved, while the implant provides additional breast volume. Some patients with small breasts are unhappy with both the size and shape of their breasts. For these patients, special implants and placement techniques can be used to enhance both the breast shape and improve breast volume. Other patients with small breasts may have some asymmetry between breasts. Unbalanced breast volume can be corrected with breast implants and other techniques.
The patient in this example is very fit and athletic, and has little subcutaneous fat. She was displeased with her lack of breast volume. Her nipples are in normal position, and she was pleased with her natural breast shape. She wanted a generous breast augmentation with some upper pole and medial 'roundness'. She described her post-operative 'look' as a class 3 (a generous augmentation with rounded upper and central breast contours).
She was treated Mentor moderate plus profile silicone implants, 300 cc volume, through peri-areolar incisions. Implants were placed behind the muscle.
